Social media cant believe how close Liverpool came to scoring vs Man City As close as you can get Liverpool fans cant quite believe how close they came to scoring against Manchester City as goallinetechnology was called into action. The Reds travelled to the Etihad in hope of taking a big leap towards claiming the Premier League title. With a seven-point lead over Manchester City all three points away from home would put plenty of daylight between them and arguably their biggest contenders. The fact that Pep Guardiolas side have not been too impressive for the past month or so added some extra spice to the affair too. Meanwhile Liverpool remained unbeaten going into the game and while you would have expected they to be favourites going into the clash they were not. Though within the first 15 minutes you could see why. Get notified! About the best football betting tips from industry experts! Thank you! They pressed hard and fast and really looked threatening despite not having many clearcut chances. Fernandinho pulled the strings and they took the game to Jurgen Klopps Reds. However it was Liverpool who nearly took the lead in incredible circumstances. Liverpool broke through on the counter with some lovely link-up play with Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah. The latter then played in a beautiful through ball to Sadio Mane who struck the post with his low shot. However the ball bounced back out and as John Stones went to clear the ball Ederson attempted to dive on the ball. That lead to Stones hitting it off the Brazilians face and the ball looping up and towards the goal. Incredibly Stones was able to recover and get the ball before it crossed the line. While it looked to have crossed the line initially replays showed just how close City were conceding. Safe to say no one could quite believe how close it was. Catherine Ivill/Getty Images Pogba was left on the bench for Mourinhos final three league games in charge before returning to play a central role under Solskjaer. During the past few months before the coach came back I was benched and a football player on the bench Im not sure if he can accept that said Pogba. Now Im taking pleasure again I play again Im doing what I love so its normal. And were winning so indeed we play with a smile always. Solskjaer is now joint-favourite to get the job permanently after victory over Spurs at Wembley. The 45-year-old was initially brought in to steady the ship after a tumultuous spell under Mourinho and he has been able to get the best out of Pogba having worked with the World Cup winner when he was reserve team coach at Old Trafford between 2008 and 2010. Its a pleasure to see him again Pogba said. I know him from the academy the reserves. Hes doing a great job hes been a player he knows the mentality of this club and he came to help us and boost us and hes doing a great job at this although the seasons still long and its not over.
